Hi
I recently got the fourth english disk of illusion city. My last savegame was quite near the first time you have to use disk 4.
Ok. thats when i go to Shu Luo district. First comes a small demo with Shoa Mei en Nan Tian Lee. then i have to insert disk 4. I see the background scrolling up, and on a plateau there seem to be 4 naked people. Then... the textwindow comes...
Varla@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
etc etc etc etc etc.... i can press space/esc as much i want, i keep seeing a damn textwindows showing @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@...
someone has a hint?? might the english version contain a bug??

Did you download all four disks anew? You can't use the previous 3 disks with the new disk4. The @@@@@ suggests it somehow loads an empty sector where it should have loaded text data.

Similar, but different.
IIRC it was 'Tien Len' ...
Ofcourse, since all names are chinese, and there's a dozen ways to romanize chinese, it's all a matter of taste anyway.

Well, I was pretty much used to seeing "Tienllen, Meiphen, Homei, Shue" etc... Some of those 'translations' came directly from Microcabin iirc. Beside, they're names, and single names are usually spelled without spaces. Just because you'd perhaps write "Johan" with two Kanji doesn't mean you would then translate those Kanji back into Jo Han. Ofcourse that's not a very good example, but you get the idea. But anyhoo, I've already talked about the possibilities of a re-translation of the 'English' version and it is perhaps a possibility to do a more westernized version of the translation. It is ofcourse a shame that this way the work will be done twice. |
