| MIDI music in Xak Gazzel?

I have heard several times that Xak Gazzel has MIDI music just like Illusion City. But how do I activate this MIDI music? I have a MSX Turbo R GT with a Roland MT32 module and Illusion City works fine with MIDI. Anybody have any tips?

I don't think you can activate it. There should be some .RCP files on disk tho, which are the source of the 'MIDI' data. I could ofcourse be wrong tho, which would make this post pretty useless... |

Only the introdemo of Gazzel features MIDI music. By pressing 'M' during boot you get to enjoy 3 delightful MT-32 tunes.

I know some ND'ers released a disk called 'illusions' in ehr.. 1995 orso.. And if I'm not mistaken, that disk contained all the original midi files of illusion city

Hmmmm, I´ve tried the MIDI version of Xak Gazzel and I am not that impressed. I like the FM-pac version more. The musical scores are a bit different though. The last music has a "real ending" in the MIDI version. I like Illusion city more!

You need a turbo R GT midi, with preverably a Roland CM32L (MT32's bigger brother). I noticed that in Illusion City some effects were wrong on a MT32, but ok on a CM32L.
In XAK Gazzel only the intro demo contains MIDI musix whilst having beforementioned hardware and M pressed during boot.

I agree with yum though that in most cases (even in Illusion City) the FM-songs sound better than the MIDI songs. I used to have a Roland JV-30 synth which had an MT-32 emulation mode, but then with improved sounds. The third part of the XAK Gazzel introdemo sounded truly amazing on that synth |

That's REALLY weird, as the CM32L is an exact copy of the MT-32... with only a few pcm samples added (some soundeffects like thunderclaps, rain, carhonking etc) but those are hardly a reason to go for the non-lcd version of the MT-32
I've owned both a MT-32 and a CM32L and they sound exactly the same. It could be those sound effects I'm talking about are used in Illusion City, but the music should sound exactly the same.
