I dunno, I think it has something to do with being able to find the right address lines. Perhaps repair-bas has some experience with these computers.

I also have a Sanyo PHC-70FD. Hans Oranje did the memory expansion. Ask him @ msx[AT]hansoranje.demon.nl.

I looked on my electronic parts and 128 kB is the maximum.
It is also possible to connect new drives and change the computer to 230 Volt.
No extra stepdown-trafo needed.
Only change one part in the power supply.

Nice! It's much better then 64 or even 128K ^_^
Can you open your computer and take picture of mods? May be this way we'll figure out how to add 512K in Wavy

Is that a good idea for a technical lake as myself?

to place bigger mem into a wavy is simple if you can solder good enough

so dont use that big solder things
15watt is enough for a good solder expirience
step one : cut out the old memmory
step two : remove the pins from the memmory from the pcb heat a little bit and remove it with a pincet
step three : put the 4 new ic sockets in its place
step four : place two extra capasators next to the IC sockets
step five : put 4 x 414256 100ns or 80ns
step six : search for the wire bridges wire them all to
1 2-3
1 2-3
and and test it !
and then you have 512KB internal

How is that possible.
normal memory, 2 chips of 32 kB (41464) is 18 pins IC
414256 is 20 pins?
Can you explain?
Easy is 128 kB, there are two free places.
When I did 512 kB I used little PCB's. Those area converter from 18 pins to 20 pins.
Then It was one or two wires into the computer, thats all.

Yes correct, you need converterprint, because the layout of the normal chips is different as the new ones.

I actually think it's better to desolder those nicely, since they can be used to upgrade SCC+ to 128K or VRAM to 192K. To desolder chips easily, use desoldering braid or the special solder sucker thingie (they are cheap, sold in same places as soldering irons)
I'm very curious if Wavy 35 is anything like Wavy 70FD. I'm getting Wavy 35 soon (well, hopefully) |
