mth: cool that you have it. *looks sadly at his stupid jap copy*
Anyways, yeah, I figured it's out in PAL version already, I saw it for download . It must be the Dutch distributor who is being a bother.
I heard someone else ask for the game as well in the Mediamarkt, so surely there's enough demand for the game (as there should be!)...

I ordered it at play.com, but it's still not in stock there either. So I guess there's more demand than Konami expected.

Picked this topic up because in some other topic there were allready comments about it.
Questions that were raised was it released in Holland.
Well first point Gradius was released holland and Belgium and France because at proxis you can order both versions.(French back/Dutch back.)
Next question when was it released quite some months back I think somewhere in
the begining of Oktober.
So then why are people haveing a hard time to find it.
Did Konami actually not support it. Why I had my doubts at Konami.
They did organize a European high score competition for it which ran for some weeks. So why do all this work if you don't want to sell it.
So what's the reason. Well I think and some game-stores and other people agree on different boards that it's just about some of our Dutch stores think that these
sort of games don't sell. In other words it's just that the Media Markt's the Bart Shit's the F-recordshops think they can not make enough profit with it.
To the people who allready got it thanks to lack of time I haven't picked it up at NEDGAME/DIMENSION PLUS (Yep the gamestores in Groningen have it in stock most of the times however from time to time there sold out. Mostly when I have time and when I actually visit there stores there sold out. So it isn't selling that bad at these stores !) is the european version on DVD (Like Konami did with CONTRA shattered soldie) or is it on CD like the US version ? (CD versions sucks because blue back PS2 cd-roms have a reputation of more problems !)

I don’t know... Back then they told me they couldn’t even order it, and at many places, not only MediaMarkt but also e-Plaza (shop dedicated to games, though not a particularly good one)... So it isn’t just one store. I’m personally thinking that the distributor has ‘dropped a stitch’ (er, steekje laten vallen - translating proverbs to English is difficult ;p) in this case.
The Dutch version is on a DVD btw. But I don’t think there’s really anything wrong with a CD version, except that they make much more noise, and take longer to load. So I guess I would prefer a DVD version, but it wouldn’t be a basis for me to decide not to buy the game. It’s not like pressing a CD instead of a DVD is a huge cost-saver nowadays anyways.

Mine is on a cd also, but I have an uk-import. Can't imagine the uk version and benelux version are on different media.

Grauw are you sure that your version is on DVD ?
Since the diffferent versions reported mind explain some problems.
So far I heard 2 people getting a DVD version. Yes I asked on more sources as this board. And that other one wasn't really sure he thought it was DVD but was a work but he would check and let me know if he was wrong.
Check the disc the box might state different. It's not the first time that I see this one screwed up. BOX says dvd but game is cd.
About blue disc's and DVD's.
There is a difference just do some searches with google on blue bottom disc's.
In the end it seems that PS2 has more problems with these disc's.
If there are 2 versions on which I have some doubts I will want the DVD version.
Hmm also just used some P2P sources and it seems 2 to point to 2 european versions however these are not that reliable. So let me know.

With regard to the blue bottom discs not working... PS2s are known to have some problems with laser aligning on occasion... That might be where those rumours are coming from, because that can cause the PS2 to read DVDs properly but CDs not and *the other way around too*. However, when the latter is the case people are likely to bring their PS2 in for repairs, because virtually no game will work.
So, I think that is where those rumours originated. Most of the time users will just blame the blue discs. Basically, if your PS2 is ok, then it won’t have any trouble with CDs. If it does, there is a laser alignment dial inside, tweaking that would probably help.
