1. i unpacked it , and plug in the cartridge slot (slot 2) Result: nothing happens...
2. ok, maybe it needs to have plugged the HDD to see some message. Result: nothing happened.
3. ok, what is happening... i check the slot with an konami game.... ok it is ok!.
4. ok, i will try to plug together the IDE & my external FDD unit.... hehehe
what happy i was when i saw a message that dissapeared quickly
Q: is possible to delay a bit the message to allow to read it??
Q: why it needs my external FDD to work?
Q: is possible that the HD gets C: instead A:?
Q: the IDE boots the HD boot sector or partition table?

Did you connect the HD to an external PSU? As a master device? It should work then... just use the supplied FDISK to create MSX partitions.

This may very well be because the IDE needs a DiskROM

Well, MSX is a smart device, arranging the Diskdrive letters in a lot more logical order than PC does WIth a swap tool you can swap partitions, but I don't think you can swap the floppy drive to A: when a harddisk/compactflash is connected... Not sure though.. you'll get used to having a harddrive at A: in no-time though.

You can set the boot-partition with IDEFDISK.

The computer must boot under MSX-DOS2,( it can be that you have to flash first the MSX-DOS2 systemrom into the ide cartridge.)
Or you can use the MSX-DOS2 cartridge.

i notices that when i plug the IDE, the diskbasic version changes to 2.x, instead my diskbasic 1.x
i also notices that now i can't to format my disks.. (to do that i needs to unplug and use the diskbasic 1.0)... is it non compatible with my 5 1/4 FDD?
if it brings a separated diskbasic, why i needs to plug the external FDD to use the IDE??????

run FDISK310 /FAT16
Remember to keep your boot partition FAT12, though. More info on installing FAT16 can be found at this website. |

Do you have MSXDOS2.SYS and COMMAND2.com on your disk?

After partitioning them, you must choose Init all partitions in Fdisk! That`s all! No need to format in DOS
