wow this is a nice thing to know is that at the time before the vikings? Or was fryslan part of it?I know denmark once owned parts of germany, norway and prolly scandinavia as a whole...

you probably read it by now but the vikings came when Great Fryslan was over. During the period of viking raids Fryslan was a part of a great frankisch (christian) empire.

at least im not patriotic at all

so you know the word terp (wierd/ward) also? is it a normal word or did you learn it at school? Frisians only built terps and dikes here.
yes, holland didnt even exist in that time, we were the first dike builders

for dutch people: the grote watersnoodramp in 1953 was nothing compared to floods they had in that time. http://people.zeelandnet.nl/voeveren/inleiding%20rampE.htm

Yeah surely. At least after 1999.

Some words from the singer's mommy:

"When you grow/throw/blow up, you'll be a fashionfreak and a sextoy"

Ah, but ofcourse... Danmark was part of Fryslân... Norway was property of Denmark and got the roots of its language from there... Though a certain dude didn't like the Dannish roots so he invented Nynorsk, but the norwegians didn't like that language and kept on speaking Bokmål all the way

okay, but was fryslan a country of sorts then? including friesland that we know now? Yeah I learned about it in school.... and is any of the very old language preserved in modern fries? Can you name words that have similarities with other languages?and...would the france and anglo saxons derive from friezen too? (it seems so,after they merged with other germanic races)
Back in the days, when man could walk from Holland to England, when the north sea was dried up because of the 3rd ice age (I think you're off too far here in history Julian)
ah....I remember those days so well

And,then again, isn't drenthe older people? I always heard that the first traces of dutch of society lie there, first only fishermen and hunters visited holland during the last iceage but didn't settle there... first remnants of buildings are the graves from drenth farmers, the hunnebeds...not named after the huns, but after huynen (giants, who were said to have made them)

well, the iceage was before we existed. in some period frisians dominated the north sea.
anyway, i doubt one can speak of a country. more a region of the "same" people.

eeh..

kaai - key
rinne - run(?)
sliep - sleep
tsiis - cheese

not sure if these words existed a 1000 years ago..

the anglo's derived from saxons, friezen and other ethic groups.

I wish we could go back in time,so far before society as it is now...When there wasn't a union at all yet...pity pity....so much is lost, we can only guess...still it behaves the sort of "outstanderism" of people from friesland, and why they have their own language...
