Another point for interested people: there is a full SNATCHER game, including the whole package in perfect condition, on sale on the spanish eBay. It is not an auction but a direct sale, and its price is high, 150 euro. Only for collectors:

And by the way, has anyone got some spare RAM chips for the upgrade? I am really interested in getting two of them. And I will pay, of course.

You will get two 464 chips from your WX after you upgrade it from 64KB to 512KB with four 4256 chips. You can use 464 chips to upgrade Snatcher cartridge

Then the problem is different: how can I get four 4256 chips?

And, by the way, I managed to produce my new ROM uploader using the cassette interface! Now I can upload a 64 KB ROM (I really need to expand my SCC+) in just 1 minute. 128 KB ROM would eventually take not more that 2 minutes.

I have tried some SCC mapped ROMs, such as the SCC+ Konami ROMs extracted from the Konami Game Collections. The SCC+ version of Knightmare is EXCELLENT! And PIPPOLS is also Ok, but less impressive. Is it perhaps a bit slower than the PSG version?

I wonder if it is possible to do a loader into a megaRAM via a cassette port ?

the bigger problem about loading from cassete input is not the protocol itself
you can upload faster hundred of times.... the weak piece is the cassete itself.... now if you just remplace it by a solid state circuit, you can upload faster with a custome loader.

But, if you makes a device with a memory where is the program to load, is not better to put it in the cartridge slot directly?.... or in case that you want to save something, just make a flash-rom cartridge?

Please send me your new address in UK. I have 8 chips right now, and I only plan to use four. In past I used 44C256 80ns chips. This time I have 514256 100ns. I want to make sure this particular type works fine by upgrading second WSX. Only then I'll send it to you. If it doesn't work it's useless to send them

PS: and if you're not doing soldering on regular basis, try finding a friend who does. If you don't have friends with soldering skills, there is a lot fo people with expertise, who mostly mod Xbox/PS2 systems. I'm sure for a bit of cash they'll happily replace chips and lift the pin on engine chip.

PPS: UrusaroMSX from this board can do the mod for you for some money, and upgrade SCC+ cart with leftover chips at the same time. He's excellent in this things. See if you can negotiate a discount, since you are both fellow Spaniards

PPPS: Urusaro can also replace Panasonic proprietary flat-belt floppy drive with reliable generic PC floppy drive without notisable difference from exterior. He is doing this by building a special Panasonic->PC floppy drive cable and "transplanting" the eject button to PC drive.

I can solder. I am not the best solder around, but it was enough to upgrade my SVI-738 to 128 KB VRAM (soldering and desoldering RAMs, so it is going to be similar this time).

I will send you my address by email, and thank you in advance, dhau!

I would like to see an instruction and a photo of this transplantation! Broken floppy drives are the nightmare of every turboR owner, expecially since replacing it with a PC drive often is visually a disaster.

Well, I guess that depends on how you do it. I did my GT without as much as a hint. I guess the only thing visible to people that really know the turboR is the fact that the drive no longer has the 'little plastic thiny that covers the disk-slot when no disk is inserted'. Apart from that, I even bothered to place the original eject button on the replacement drive, disabled the HD sensor and added a microswitch that hooks up to the 'disk ready' pin or whatever the hell it's called... And if I can do that it means that any half-assed moron (apart from ro, who's a full-assed moron ) can do it...
