In the first place, congratulations SMD for your great program.

I'm trying to load metal gear 2 disk version ".dsk" format, using your program.
but it hangs in the progress bar screen.

Any idea?

The tool itself uses some memory, so I assume you need an MSX2 with more than 512K RAM in order to be able to run it.

Snout is correct about that. Notice that MG2 uses only memory from the internal mapper. On my ST with 256kb in the internal mapper and 1mb in an external mapper the game won't work either.

well its known that some disks wont run correct it has to do someting with the dos 2 mapping routines.

my system is a turbo-r with v9990,opl4(moonsound),cf ata ide256MB,gouda novaxis scsi 2GB,4MB Mapper and even i have also encoutered your bug but i could not run it eighter.

even when you try to emulate it as a rom it would not work under dos 2 i guess

the only 4Mbit i got working under dos 2 was using my novaxis scsi,4mb mapper,and an scc i could run space manbow from hd on a turbo r,with the tool megamu&trload.

but some how if i do the trick on a cf ata ide it wont work

the memory usage on a turbo r is diverent it first always uses his own internal ram first then the external Ram

yes

its external in my 8 slot xpander

but also changing the external mapper to another slot wont help eighter

Poisonic - The problem lies in the fact that your 4MB memory mapper is an external one. If you had had 1MB or more of internal memory, the MG2 translation would probably work without any problem. Other tools should be able to work after you've run MAP/MAPIT. (btw, is MAP/MAPIT or something similar incorporated in Runit and/or is there any reason not to?)

However... it's just a hunch, but in 2004 a tool was released that MIGHT just fix this problem... MemTR. Ah darn, that one doesn't work in DOS2.xx ... sorry to get yout hopes up.

ofcourse i can play it from the good old 720kb disk
then i can even use the sram of my games master 2 to save my progress
and use my scc for sound

some how if i use mappit before i run games there's more chance that it works
sdsnatcher did not run eighter until i used mappit

Yes you can, it's just like as start.com e.g. to change to disk 2 you have to keep [2] pressed and press [space] simultaniously.

Runit uses exactly 204 bytes, in the top of page 3

The mapper patch is internal and is always used before running a game

If you use run /m diskimage.disk and have a philips music module you can get sound from the music module in puyo puyo, gorby's pipeline and golvellius 2

There are probably other games from compile where it will work.
