manuel, is it one of TOR versions ?
Does it require advanced VDP as found on YIS503II (MSX1) on which this editor has been developed ?

I use PED, it's very simple but very quick!

Yes, all of the TOR versions and flavours do require V9938 or higher, because they use the 80 column mode, as well as the larger VRAM (not all versions, some use RAM) to store texts.
But it does not use the MSX2 BIOS. It is the text editor that I use with my SVI-738, upgraded to 128 KB VRAM but without MSX2 BIOS.

There is a good Tassword version for MSX1, that allows 60 (or maybe 64) chars displayed on the screen (tiny chars!)
As a fast editor, I would suggest SkEdit (or something like that) that is a convenient TSR program for MSX-DOS.
I miss something like the MS-DOS EDIT. It is great!

You can always use the edit.com that came with Turbo Pascal 3.00 |

I once started an editor project like the MSDOS edit one. Using 80 col screen 0 and the extra colour table. Had a lot of it implemented, except the part where you could actually edit. I wanted to support lage files so I was using the mapper, but that makes editting not trivial. Especially when you need to insert text at the beginning of a 100kb document. Never got around to thinking up something smart for that. |

Did you ever try MPW? It's a great editor that reminds me a lot of MS-DOS EDIT, I use it all the time. Only for MSX2 tho.
The possibility to work with 2 documents rapidly and easily in split screen is a great feature. |
