this scematic is fucked up a bit
so tieing all the rgb gnds and then putting them on pin 1or 2 on the sub d?
would do the trick?

Look at www.hardwarebook.net and you'll find all the pinouts you want. Pins 1 and 2 of the DB-9 are ground, you can tie them toghether to all the R, G, B, Sync and other grounds. All my 1084s and Amigas/MSXs are wired up this way.

The NMS8250 has not RGB-SCART output? The VG8235 has rgb-scart and aerial output and I don't have any problem to connect it to a Commodore 1081 monitor. AFAIK, the 1084 has the same inputs as the 1081 colour. Simply, I connect it directly, without any special cable or modification.

my nms8250 has a scart indeed but an rgb cable would seriously boost up the quality of the picture

Ok, in the VG8235, the scart is also RGB, so I don't need to modify anything. As being always RGB, the quality of the MSX image is impressive.

Also, my 1081 monitor has a switch between CVBS and RBG, so I put it in RGB when I use my MSX.

But if I use an audio video cable instead of a scart cable, I don't have rgb and the image is really poor.

Hey! What about CSync???
ABC of RGB: Connect all these pins in the OUTPUT (in this case, the msx scart) to the INPUT (the loved 1084d):
R (red)
G (Green)
B (Blue)
CSYNC (Composite Sync)
all Grounds tied togheter to ground on the monitor (pins 1 AND 2)

You need the SYNC signal also. On the NMS series this is sometimes composite video, sometimes pure SYNC but always required for an RGB monitor. Without it: chaos on the screen!
