Hi guys, sorry if this has already been covered, but using the search facility just brough up reams of levels for this.
I've downloaded the demo, and tried with both openMSX and BlueMSX but each time I try and load it, I'm told "This game needs at least 128Mb free memory"
So, as I've tried running MSX machines with up to 4Mb, and still get the same message, I guess there is a memory mapper utility I need to use in order for this to work. If so, what program do I need?
Thanks in advance

Strange ... I've just tried the demo on a MSX2 in blueMSX and it works perfectly ! Not a single error message ....
A precision : you must add the MSX-DOS1 files (msxdos.sys - command.com) on the DSK file and run the game by typing BOMBAMAN (+ return) on the command line .

I'll give that a whirl. I originally loaded the MSX-DOS2.2 disk with the Dos 2.2 cart in slot 1, then ejected the disk and stuck the bombaman disk in.

Yep, just slapping those files on that disk worked a treat. How stupid am I???
LOL
Thanks very much |

well, I'm still surprised that you got that message then... Apparently this was not the problem at all?

Still, as long as this thing is taking (something is obviously not right) you'd think it was Mb and not Kb... back to the drawing board

I'm not sure what the problem is. I can't get either OpenMSX or BlueMSX to run this.
If I use the Bombaman disk with the MSXDOS2 sys and com files, OpenMSX isn't interested, and if I load up MSX DOS 2.2 first, then I get the memory error when trying to run Bombaman.
In BlueMSX, I get the "Bombateam presents" and the caps lock light flashes away, but nothing more than that happens.
What version of Dos, and what machines should I be using?
I've tried MSX 2, 2+ and Turbo R all to no avail (in both emus)

Why do you want absolutely to run it with MSX-DOS 2 ?
It works without any problem with MSX-DOS1 !

Because I don't have MSX-DOS1 :'(

So MCCM actually had a point not to supply it on there disks because it's not P.D. because there now seems to be one user who doesn't has it. |

No, there's no MSX-DOS 1 rom ...
But I guess another thing : MRC uses LZH archives and you have problems on WinXP to create a good working DSK file.
So, here's the procedure (to get the Archive attribute !)
1 - Unlzh (with WinRAR for example) the MRC archive in a new directory
2 - Use WinZIP to archive again these files in a .zip file (it's the trick to give the Archive Attribute to each file of the LZH package)
3 - Unzip your brand new zip archive
4 - Use DiskManager to create the DSK file with all these files and the 2 MSX-DOS1 files
This procedure should be included in all LZH archives of MRC |
