Due to a cause presently unkown the database table containing all forum posts at the MRC got corrupted. Luckily we make regular backups so that we could get our forums back up and running within a few minutes. 8 posts went lost in the process. We'll contact the people who posted these messages and point them to the threads they posted in, so perhaps we can get a 100% restoration of the database. Sorry for the inconvenience...

Huray to our extremely tight backup policy

yeah, thank God for those indeed, otherwise it would have meant 41.882 forum posts down the drain (yaiks!). Everybody who posted a message which is now lost in cyberspace has been contacted. Lets hope they have good memories ^_^

MSX fans: we're back on the road!

How do you backup btw? send the whole forumbunch each 6 hours to 'some place' (ftp at your homes for example) ?

We use a special backup tool for that one, which makes backups every 4 hours and keeps an archive (compressed, of course) of backups for about two weeks. (Just in case). The interface of this tool allows us to easily make and/or restore extra backups of the entire database or just a few selected tables. In this case, only the table containing the forum posts needed restoration. The backup we had was about 2 hours old. Restoration went, as you can see, quite smoothly.

Backups are stored remotely, off-server, indeed Wolf.
