At least 128KB RAM in the main mapper... 
It would be stupid if he made it faster with R800 and it were not working because default memory is 256KB or 512KB depending on the model.  |

Are you talking about the mapper circuit?
I mean, a MSX 2 + with at least 128 KB RAM in the Mapper.
I think that with the mapper a person still need the memory to form a working Memory Mapper! Without extra memory a mapper would not be much effective ...
