What's about a V.29 or V.32 Modem?
If no one here could use this type of Modem, there isn't much hope for newer standards

I do know a lot of people successfully hooked up 14k4 and 28k2 modems via a serial port. I've never done this myself, but I know some people that hosted BBSes on systems like that. I would think you could go a lot faster than that even, especially on a Turbo-R, but I don't know if a lot of people have done this... I know Sunrise still makes RS232 carts, but it didn't say on their website what kind of speeds you can achieve with them. I would think that 56k6 shouldn't really be a problem on a Turbo-R though, well, unless it's really awkward to haul those bits in, but it's prolly as simple as an IN. Ofcourse putting all those nice little chars on the screen is a different issue

I recall the Uzix manual saying 'speeds up to 56k6 w/ a Sony RS232 or a Sunrise RS232 are feasible'. Yukio: it might be possible to connect your RS232 with a null-modem cable to a PC's serial port (which is also RS232). Maybe you can achieve an internet connection this way, but I don't know that for sure, never tried it myself.

My first home connection to internet was from my MSX, so I've used many modems (from 1200bps LightSpeed to modern 56Kbps) with different MSX models. The problem is not usually modem or serial port, but software... Serial drivers are used to lose data very easyly. From communication programs people have recommended Erix, but I have always liked TERM best. Only hardware, that I could not get functioning well was AccNET, but that was propably a hardware problem on my device...

Only one thing.

I still need to get a [MSX] RS232.
There was some cartridges here in Brazil, now I need to be sure about the possibilty of a real use.
Anyway, if it's possible, maybe I will get a national RS232 or even try to import one.

Well, Sunrise has a nice IDE cart... Don't know what it would cost to ship it to Brazil tho...
