Pioneer PX-7 ???

UnregisteredGeplaatst: 18 Oktober 2002, 09:48
Hi, I have recently recieved a Pioneer PX-7 Palcom (Black) MSX computer in good working condition. I was just wondering what it's worth?

It's a MSX-1 computer. Should be about 10 euro, unless you'll find a crazy collector. Normal MSXers prefer MSX2 and higher.

I think the PX-7 is worth a _bit_ more since it can be linked to a Laserdisc player to do some serious genlocking

Ok, how many Laserdisc owners are crazy about MSX-1 platform? Please provide an approximative number For some reasons I beleive it's somethere between 0 and 3, and all of them already have all possible kinds and models, ordered from Japan

Ehrm...Pioneer PX-7 (japanese version) is expensive, afaik.I know some people interested in getting one of them (it is not nice having a LaserDisc player and not the computer itself).Just my two cents...

What's the big deal with laserdisc? It can work perfectly fine with any VCR. The whole story with LD is that it could work as a remote for several Pioneer LDs and VCRs, making a very impractical editing suite. The realy important thing is it's genlock/overlay function. It can be used a subtitling device combined with two VCRs. It is one of the rarest MSX computers, and one was sold last year on German eBay for 130 Euros.

You can get from 50 up to 200 euro for a PX-7, you just need to find the correct buyer.
I have one, and a compatible laserdisc Pioneer LD-5000 player should arrive next week
I also have 1 MSX laserdisc game StarFighters.
I'm really curious about it, hope it arrives soon

If you'd sell it, I'd be happy to pay 75 euro for it

You're forgetting that there exist Palcom (pioneer) MSX laserdisc games. Check http://www.faq.msxnet.org !

Greetings.

Yes, right, you can use LD as a CD ROM, but like I said, to me it's not a big deal. I used it as a subtitling machine.

I have a spare PX-7, in my MSX collection, but I won't sell it. Maybe I would trade it for MSX 3,5" external FDD plus some other MSX devices, if you make "an offer I can't refuse".

I was talking to the guy from the original post about selling his, not yours.

Please note that you need a Japanese PX-7 to play the MSX Laserdisk games correctly because the the output needs to be NTSC if you want to use a NTSC Laserdisk player.

The Following Laserdisk players can be used to connect to the JP PX-7:

Pioneer CLD-9000, LD-7000, LD-5000, LD-v500, LDP-150. You can also use a normal NTSC MSX1, but then you need the "MSX Expansion processor ER-101" from Pioneer.

For anyone who might be interested: I still have two Laserdisk games lying around: Cosmo Circuit (SS098-0011) and Umi Yakuba (SS098-0003). If you make a nice offer you get my MSX Pink Sox Best Characters Laserdisk with it. Both games are complete with manual.
