Some questions about the One Chip MSX:
1. Will it be compatible with all MSX cartridges (sound/RAM extensions, slot expanders,...)?
2. Has MSX Association/ASCII planned the production of a special "MSX keyboard" for the One Chip MSX? I mean with MSX keys instead of PC keys. PC keyboards are also quite big for such small device. This keyboard with a MSX layout would be nice: http://www.casco.com/psk3400.htm , http://www.intolect.com/images/products/psk3100_2.JPG
3. Distribution. Will it be as the Game Reader, only through the web of ASCII?
4. Manuals. Only in Japanese? |

Also some questions about the One Chip MSX:
onechip msx has also usb ports, is it possible in the future to connect external USB storage devices like a Usb HDD or cdrom?
onechip msx possible to emulate msx 2 and msx 2+
what is the speed of the CPU of one chip msx?

I bought a small keyboard at the HCC fair for €5... Quite a nice thing, I guess it’s basically just a laptop keyboard without the laptop . It hasn’t got MSX keys, but... it’s much smaller than a regular PC keyboard.
elements: USB, someone would have to code it. It would be possible, I guess, but I wouldn’t expect it. As always, someone has to code it .
CPU speed will be the same as MSX2, that is 3.58 MHz. However, it will probably be possible to increase the speed by modifying the FPGA code, so that you e.g. get 7 MHz. And assign a key on the keyboard as a switch back to 3.5 MHz, or something. |

I'm still worrying about the device not having an ethernet controller. That's essential in my eyes.

On the other hand, it will surely be a nice extra for the ObsoNET developers |

Yes, of course it will! It already is, in fact.
At the moment the type of casing hasn't been decided yet. Based on the casing, ASCII might also throw in a keyboard (optional?) later on. You know where you'll read that information, rite?

In Japan there will be a similar pre-ordering at the ASCII website, how Bazix is going to distribute the English One Chip MSX is undecided as of yet.

Nop, Bazix is to distribute the One Chip MSX outside the Japanese market, and of course all the documentation that comes with it will be localized to English. |

I have a few questions also.
1) Is that possible to add an option to at least increase the z80 speed to 7 Mhz (default would be 3.58, of course) ? It could be done with a OUT to a specified port.
2) Those USB ports, I believe there are many devices that work with USB already, even Ethernet ports. I know we will have to code the drivers, but will ESE/MSX Association develop some of these drivers (at least the basic ones, to keyboard/mouse and who knows, an HD ? :-)

Idd, idd, many things work through USB....Hmmmmmm, so it all will be a matter of writing drivers.....Which as well......Might be a pain in the ass....

So you are going to distribute it? Sweet . Hope I don’t have to wait too long after the Japanese release though. |

Keyboard and mouse already work through USB. I don't know if there are any plans to implement Ethernet/Obsonet support.
Bazix is indeed very very very very likely to distribute the One Chip MSX outside Japan, but please don't ask us to do the impossible. Translating manuals and other documentation, actually getting the computers from Japan to Europe, finding the best way to distribute the One Chip MSXes on a market so different than the Japanese... it needs a lot of planning and sorting out, most of which can hopefully be done before production of the One Chip MSX starts, but still... a release at the same time can't be guaranteed at the moment.

I hope you do realize real localization means translating it not only to English, but also Dutch, Spanish, Portugese, Italian, German, etc. |
