i can do betters scores than the presented as "records". But i am too busy right now.
What is happening to you, happensme the last summer to me!
Always is a time when you asks yourself... as the feedback is too low, worth the time to do this?
I asksme that about MNBIOS proyect, just after releasing the 3rd BETA i doesn't receives one simple feedback!. And only a month after I joins a IRC msx channel and set it as topic by a while, what scaredme was how a lot of guys tellme "i am bussy in X or Y thing" or "i not had time to see that". That makes a virtual drop of all the proyect. Afther that date i receive some feedback sometimes. And only in MAR/2005 i thought, hey, i put a lot of time in this!, and i like this, it is my bigger proyect!, currently it is like my MSX's life. So why to drop it?. So in that date i starts analysing why it was too unsucessful. Chating + rereading olds emails... so i did all the changes that i see necesary or put it in the TODO list.
But your case is different, the website is simply cool!. But as you know the msx comunity is very active right now, each one is doing or coding something, so websites normaly are visit by fews.
So, hands up and continue....

I agree with the above comments - I visit the site 2nd only to msx.org. It is up to you Phil, msx.org went through a period last year they say when there was hardly and news or forum posts. |

I like your site, moreover I cannot see why dismiss it.
I do not think you have many update to do (no new software => no update)

Hi Phil, nowadays I read even MSX sites rarely, but yours is one of them that I read. I will continue to repeat what others have said already, that "I like your site" and "homebrew game list is a RRReally gRRReat thing!", as it is really nice to look about new MSX games from just ONE place, instead of googling around missing time to do some other thingies!
And homebrew list is A MUST for MSX beginners!
MSX art related site is great thing to have! I´m sure many people will agree that! But as I have said to you Phil, I don´t know anymore what can be done to wake up people to make MSX ART! So, WAKE UP, LAZY PEOPLE!!!!! MAKE MSX ART!! and don´t say you are not artistic, that is not an excuse! almost everything can be art! Grab your MSX and just do it!
And nowadays I unbelievably rarely (almost never) write anything to ANY guestbook in internet.
Today was first time I looked karoshi´s forum.
I have so much things to think that I cannot think about what should I say on MSX sites which I think are important to exist!
And last famous words, Keep your site up Phil! There are so many things which must not get lost!

Now I'm thinking... One user told that did not know anything about your webpage... Recently I downloaded one archive from e-mule of MSX stuff and had one folder inside with MSX web links, and mine (www.moai-tech.com) did not apperar... So I thought that WE ALL NEED PUBLICITY!!!
To the MRC team: As you are the centerpiece and the most visited MSX web page, what about putting a random banner of MSX web pages of interest??? Because it's is really sad that the MSX games BOX and MOAI-TECH are not known for many users! (and a lot more of general interest!)

Eh. Where you from? We had a rotating banner system in the past. I ended up making a few banners for websites, 'cause except a few nobody cared to send one in. And then we had 4 banners of websites that rotated on an on, eating half of our own bandwidth without even say thank you, or -yeah it's me again- put some bucks in our bucket to pay for the extra bandwidth. No thank you. Been there, done that. IMHO.

BTW: each time a site has something to say we report about it, and people will visit that site. We always cram our newspostings full with the site links. We try to review good products, make banners of fairs. But for me, that's "one way benefits" enough. IMHO.

Hey, don't tell me you are giving me beneficts posting a new about something I created. I think that's something in the main objective of the MRC, to post the most relevant news at the MSX scene, with links pointing at the pages with more info. Without that, the MRC would not have news contents and it will only be a forum. Ok, asking for a banner could be too much, but I don't see the reason for that last reaction. |

to reduce bandwidth, one might even like the idea of being able to disable that top banner...

Exactly viejo_archivero.
A banner doesn't eats bandwith because it is only an image. It is only a simple asp scrip (so simple...). And the news, as the days pass, dissapear form the front page, and not all MSX users are so freak enough to visit your web page EVERYDAY. And THAT's THE POINT.
And as viejo_archivero has said, without all of us you will only be a forum, and if you like to represent the MSX "world" I think putting some banners (the ones that the people cares to send you abot their sites) will be one good point.

the problem sander is having the previous banner system (on the old asp site) had a refresh timer (each 30 seconds iirc) to display a random banner. That indeed takes quite some bandwidth taking into consideration about 2500 people minimum visit the site each day.
that was the time I joined the team... and I 'voluntary' left around the time it became a foundation...

Just like Sander said, we have had a banner rotating system in the past.. And know what? No one made use of it... We offered free banner space and ended up with four banner of which three were our own.

What I thought: NO banner refreshing, just as the msx.org opens, ONE image is radomly chosen and showed. That's it.
And I repeat myself: Not everybody checks your site everyday...
