| Just like Sander said, we have had a banner rotating system in the past.. And know what? No one made use of it... We offered free banner space and ended up with four banner of which three were our own.
|
What sander said is that we must be thankful for being spotted on a newpost at the MRC. That goes beyond the "banner" thing: I hope he decide to change his words. |

It's true that without news to post, the MRC would only be a forum. Still, most news is post by the MRC. You guys are some of those happy exeptions. The MRC makes costs however, and if you want to dictate what the MRC must do for the community, for example by making a banner system, start donating. hehe.
The other problem I have is with the quality of those banners. We -and you may of course disagree with that- try to maintain an uniform graphic style. You know our colors. We have no control over the quality of those banners, except if we make them ourselves. And sorry, there is simply no time at this moment to do such a large scale operation. Snout is nagging me all the time for new topic icons, and a lot of other gfx and layout plans that are begging for ages to be honoured. Bifi: the MRC pays for the current banners. Is it okay we have something to say then?
Hmm. That could be a good idea: your MSX banner on the MRC for a small fee. But then, nobody would make use of the system.
Please note these are just my personal opinions and not necessary those of my fellow team members.

Maybe sander has a bad day...
I ended to put news on MOAI-TECH because people were more used to your page. Not because yours was better. It is like if you are COKE or PEPSI and I introduce myself in the MSX world as WHATEVER. I mean that your "leadership" of MSX community is only a matter of user habits, because as we all know, you are only a "news archiver" and there has been a lot of webpages like that, but, again, if you ask for a COKE, everybody knows, but WHATEVER is sadly unknown....

Don't expect Pepsi to go advertising for Coke.

maybe Bazix can sponsor MRC?
or other (semi-commercial) MSX groups? |

And yes, I think people should be glad that the MRC is here to post about their products, webpages and whatever cool news they might have. Let put those people into two groups: those that notify us, or better yet: post themselves, (that's probably you) and those people that don't notify us and when we post about those newsitems say "oh, I already knew that for a long time". Grmbl!
Please: maintaining MRC costs time, but do you know people spend hours of free time trying to provide you with news? Searching for news? Don't start with that the MRC is depended solely on it's users. We posted years about MSX without even having a forum and everybody declared us nuts because we reported about MSX. I personally dare to say that the MSX community wouldn't be where it is today without the MRC. I could even say that a bit more hars, but then I would probably will be called some nazi elite who dictates what the community should do. I don't dictate -the MRC don't dictate- but we just follow a track that has been layed out by all team members involved. That might differ sometimes from what individual users want. That sucks sometimes, but he', that's with all things in life.

I know. Every other news web of MSX worked like that. There's no other solution of putting news but searching for them in forums, mailing list... We all know that. I didn't meant that the users write the news, but the users are used to visit YOUR NEWS WEB!!
You spend free time in that, KAROSHI in developing games and offering a TR as a winner gift!, MSX Games box reviewing games, MOAI making articles just if anyone wants to read it... We all spend our free time in that.

Anyway to get back on topic Please share your thoughts on the MSX Games Box with Phil In the meantime I can assure you a banner system displaying MSX website banners (without a special occasion) will not return to MRC. If the community really feels the current link directory is insufficient in promoting other website then please come up with workable solutions -besides- the banner system I could imagine a random link block for example... |

BiFi msx guru Berichten: 3142 | Geplaatst: 02 Juni 2005, 12:44   |
Hmm... a random link... that brings back memories It might be an idea though to add some feature to rate sites again... Don't know how frequently it was used though.
Anyway... please don't stop MSX Games bOX! |
