A cyclone causes damages, yes, but, correct me if I'm wrong, tsunamis aren't caused by cyclones but by some kind of (submarine) earthquake. Altera has choosen the term 'cyclone' for this kind of product line, and MSX Associoation has choosen a product out of that line, so, there shouldn't be any problems using that term. But you're right, we must think about negative connotations of our suggestions. By the way, some of the names proposed are much to unspecific.

OpenMSX can be confused with openMSX, at least at the beginning of a line and if you don't
write or read, but just talk about it. OpenComputer is very much too unspecific, it can be used
for almost any system, regardless if FPGA is used or not!

As the forum thread isn't hardly surveyable, why not making a list like the contacts list with items as follows:

• current number
  
• date of posting
  
• name of the poster
  
• proposed name
  
• link to the posting with the explanation of the proposed name
  

which can be sorted by the items ''date of posting'', ''name of the poster'' and ''proposed name''. Only the names in this list should be considered as valid! This list could be generated and updated automatically. This would facilitate to create new names. To code a script for that also would be good for future challenges! This also would avoid trouble about suggestions which were posted but not apprechiated or taken into account, because the suggestion was considered a joke or not to be serious. With such an official list, the poster would be sure that his/her submission is valid. Maybe there also should be the possibility to discard suggestions by the poster.
