hello
i have a book in z80 assembly and machine language but it did not suppord VDP registers, simply it is only for the poke and peek statements and how to write assembly but without sprites or graphics..
where can i find free simple documents about VDP (TO START FROM ZERO)?
i want this document for games programming purpose only ,i don't want emulation and other things ,just games..

also,is this book good for starting assembly or no:
(STARTING MACHINE CODING) BY G.P.RIDLEY

note:all the help documents i want them in MSX1..

I TRIED TO PROGRAM THE NES ASSEMBLY BUT THERE IS NO RESOURCES IN NES GAMES,I HOPE I COULD FIND THIS IN MSX1 DOCUMENTS

THANKS

I once had a copy of a book called "Behind The Screens Of MSX" which was excellent on introducing the VDP.

The MSX Red Book, by Avalon software (AKA Kuma) is an excellent book about MSX BIOS calls etc. I recall that the VDP is allowed to be accessed directly, and there is no need to go through BIOS, although if I am wrong someone will correct me!

Isn't that mainly MSX2 oriented? Well, they do have the TMS technical databook, which I guess is quite handy to have...
