I have a Panasonic MSX Turbo 2 GT model. I got a good picture through the s-video cable. I need sound to come out of my TV. What kind of din cable do I need for sound? Where can I buy this din cable?

the sound is combined with the RGB in the 8-pin DIN cable. It has the same pin layout as some Sony MSX machines. A complete cable (RGB and sound) is available at Bas Kornalijnslijper (Repair-Bas in these forums). He also can make this cable audio output only.

Or else you can use that RCA (cinch/tulp) audio output connector. Just hook it up to either @ yer stereo or yer TV (maybe even the camera-audio input)

Belmont: are you sure that utilising the 8 pin DIN RGB output gives a much clearer picture? I tried it myself with my ST, I prefer the DIN RGB to the S-Video. Additional, the sound output is being directed to the monitor/TV as well... I have a DIN-RGB <--> EURO SCART cable. The only other option is the suggestion BiFi posted, if you prefer S-Video to the DIN output.

I don't know jack about the MSX system. I just bought this system off ebay so I can play Vampire Hunter. The only cables that came with this system is a scart cable and the power cable. None of my TVs have scart plug-ins. I can't play a castlevania game without sound.

Well, if your TV doesn't have SCART, you can do two things... The first would be the proper way, ordering a cable from Repair-Bas. I guess it'll cost you something in the order of 5 euros. If you really can't wait, you do it the sloppy way. Find yourself some old RCA connector (tulp stekkertje) with the cable still on it, and cut and strip the wire to sufficient length. Take the outer wire, twist and turn till all the small wires are bound tightly together and insert it in the right-most pin-socket of the RGB (DIN) connector. This is the GND pin. Then take the inner wire of the RCA connector, twist it together and insert it in the bottom-most pin-socket of the RGB (DIN) connector. This is the sound pin. Insert the RCA connector in your TV and voila, you should have sound! If your TV doesn't switch to mono automatically, you can also use two RCA connectors, twist the wires of both together and insert them in the RGB connector the same way.
Refer to this page to see what the connector looks like. |
