Don´t misunderstand me guys but I´m I little bit tired of the avaliable avatars for the FORUM. That´s why I´m proposing you to let any registered user to upload his own avatar to give this thing a more colorful scene...
What do you think about that?

I think in the end all you will see is a big collection of Konami screenshots and MSX bootscreens as avatars 
Not so exciting.

Dunno, Cax. In other retrogaming forums, people don´t use only game screenshots. Actually, it´s what they least use as avatars...  |

Sounds like a perfect way to mess up the otherwise clean layout of the site 
Seriously, it sounds like a bad idea, both with regards to the layout of the site (it will get very messy) and security-wise (allowing people to upload avatars is a security risk, which isn't that wise with somebody lame enough to hack the server). Maybe MRC could provide a bunch of pre-determined avatars to pick from or so? |

Well allowing users to upload only images is not a security hazard when properly implemented IMHO.
The only (client-side) risk would be users uploading 'evil JPGs', but one could allow only GIF and PNG for example.
Anyway, I would also like to see some new & fresh (extra) avatars - provided by MRC,
I don't think that custom user-images would be a good idea - layout & practical wise ...

@SKiLLa, unfortunately there are plenty of security leaks in both windows and internet explorer which allow exploiting through images. Ofcourse this would mean a client side risk as you mentioned already.
Anyway, I must agree with Jorito and SKiLLa on the mess-things-up part. But maybe, as SKiLLa proposes, we can provide some fresh avatars..

Well I agree with you guys in the point that uploading images could be risky, but there´s a good idea to bring new fresh stuff. So come on! let´s start making new avatars and the make a poll to decide which are the best ones for the site...!!!

I like the idea, an avatar is always a nice add-on to a forum. Keeping all the security measures, of course.
