That would be the feature that is way beyond the capabilities of the V9990. And could (depending on the mapping method) be used for 3D graphics. |

no v9990's in there...
|
Indeed, the article doesn't mention them. It also doesn't name exactly which ones were used... I am also not stating that there is one or two v9990's in the 3DO, but that it could be possible they could be integrated in another custom videoprocessor. There is also no hard proof that they were used as much as they weren't used. It is a rumour, but most rumours hide a little truth |

You are right that feature is beyond the capabilities of the v9990, but a 3DO is equipped with additional graphics accellerators which have that feature.
Well we went way off-topic now and I said everything I know. /Me also has doubts... but there are no proofs if there is v9990 technology used or there isn't. That is my final statement on this matter. |

@W76NearDark,
I guess there is a lot of hardware out there, of which you can't proof there is no V9990 in there. But simply looking at the specs of the 3DO graphic chips, and the fact they were using 2 customs video chips for the screen-handling, it simply isn't logical that it uses V9990's, and still having seperate graphic accelerators. Those were probably already included in teh GPU.

@Home I use Firefox, here at the office IE.
But from what I have seen, online translation of Japanese -> English... It's not alway that understandable. And to make sure we don't get any more rumours, based on bad translations.... |

Lol, it's amazing how a topic could get carried miles away
I think there was about 10'000 TurboR produced all together. No more then 10K. |

Dunno, I doubt they could develop all that new hardware for just 10k units... Of course I'm really as clueless as the next guy... ^_^

well one has to look at their profit-margin... if the machine costed around 800euro back then.. suppose they made 200euro profit on each machine, clean,.. for 10000 units it would be 2 million euro profit... can you develop the machine and its new internal things for that sum ?

I'd say about 30.000 turboR machines were produced and sold... Fantastically unfounded by the way ^_^
