I have a Philips NMS8245 MSX2 lying around here, but it's defect. Last time I tried, the computer worked but the disk drive malfunctioned. When I turn it over, there's some noise coming out of it, as though very tiny parts are loosely flying around through the computer. The lid of the upper cartridge slot is missing and there are no cables with it. I think I will throw it away, unless there's someone who is interested in it anyhow. That person can come and pick it up in Leiden (the Netherlands) for free. If I have no responses in a week, I'll throw it away (on a sidenote: I know nothing about technical stuff, so I really don't know if the machine could be repaired easily or not).

The easiest solution is to adapt a PC disk drive. I have done it several times following Hans Otten's site instructions. You do not need to be a proficient hardware geek: I am pretty clumsy when it comes to soldering, but if I can do it, anyone can.

YOu can probably just replace the rubbert belt of the drive and fix it. It's very easy.

Even if it can be repaired, I don't need it, so I want to get rid of it anyway But the noise it makes doesn't give the impression the thing can be easily repaired .

hey, keep it until Nijmegen and bring it then.. I'm sure there's *some* value in a 8245.. even if you sell it for 5 euro orso.. I don't think MSX1's are worth much, but a 128k msx2 has still some value..

Are you saying that you will buy it at Nijmegen for 5 euro?

Hi Rukusu, I know a guy,Danny Wels who is looking for a 8245, I think he is interested. He lives in Beuningen. I don't know if he reads this, I can mail him

I have given away the computer today, so it won't be necessary to take it to Nijmegen anymore .
