Well I actually LIKE the logo, it's just that I read "MSE" in it, I don't know
if that has a deeper meaning overlooked by me...
like the colours too, and the fact that's it got loadsa stuff about the
beloved homecomputer... so hurrah with shiny knobs on to you |

Some comments from my side:
- I also read "MSE" in the logo... I think using the MSX logo is not a problem. This is an exerpt from an e-mail from Bernard who has good contacts with the MSX Association:

Nasu zei trouwens dat de MSX Association niet moeilijk zal gaan doen
over het gebruik van het MSX logo.
|
English: Nasu said that MSX Association will not take action when someone uses the MSX logo.
So, it would be nice of the old logo would come back...
- I also find the front page a little less clear than before. It used to be very easy to find what the latest post is.
- Where is the direct link to The Ultimate MSX FAQ?
- Where is that MSX.org FAQ?
- For the rest: it looks very good folks! |

It is easy to read MRC in it
But maybe the dash under the M should be left out to make it more readable =] |

Something I am missing is a Contact Us Page, preferrably witha simple form which emails the comments through the php mail()-function to the selected person (if you want I can give you a script I wrote which you can alter to your needs)
Secondly, there is a typo in your Policies:
should be
By the way, I noticed that you are using phpBB1.4 as a module. Is this ContentManagementSystem that MRC is using based on an existing CMS which supports phpBB as module? or have you written it from the ground and implemented the old phpBB yourselves? |

I would like to thank everyone for their comments so far. Many suggestions will be incorporated in future updates, but some take some time to develop. I'd like to comment on a few posts though.

I'm not sure if I know which articles you are talking about. Probably it is about the news posts that - at first sight - do not appear chronologically on the frontpage. Well.. in fact they still do appear chronologically. Just not the way you were used to it. Currently, the site works like this:
[most recent headline]
[most recent report] [second most recent report]
[second most recent headline]
[report #3] [report #4]
Since reports are (or can be) a lot smaller than headlines, it is nog a good idea to display them next to each other in two columns. As explained earlier, I like this way of reporting the news because both headlines and reports get more attention. However, we can and probably will create solutions for this in the future, for the people who like the old style even more.

phpBB has it, but I'm not very fond to turn it on yet. imho, signatures are mostly cludding up the screen. Will discuss it with other admins though.

Our CMS is based on a CMS that can run phpBB as a module, but we have rewritten and fixed many many many things

The msx.org FAQ has to be rewritten, and we did not have the time to do that yet. Also, we were hoping the new website was less in need of a FAQ as many things have gotten a lot clearer. The link to the ultimate MSX FAQ was removed because it suddenly felt awkward to directly link to another site from our main menu. From mails we received in the past, we noticed many people thought the FAQ was maintained by us. Also, other people were wondering if we could link to them straight from the front page. Maybe we'll find a nice solution for this in the future, without turning down sites not mentioned on the frontpage. Either way, please keep us posted on updates in the FAQ, we'll mention them on the front page.
Many people have been wondering about the logo. It reads "MRC" (thanks for spotting it, Filip) and we're not planning on changing it back to the old logo (yet). As the new frontpage, I think most people just need to get a little more used to it.
In the mean time, reported typo's were fixed, a small bug in the frontpage was fixed and a huge bug in the conversion of the user base was fixed. Thanks to all people who reported these bugs. |

Ehm, there were never any posts about the FAQ on teh front page...
Most of the updates are small anyway. The last big thing was the addition of the SCSI FAQ.

A logo is not something you should get used to. It should be clear the first time you look at it. This one is not. Also, there is an ugly thing about it: the 'r' is a small letter, while the M is a capital. The 'c' could be either... And indeed, the line under the M only confuses things more.
The logo is a nice line drawing, but not good for a logo, in my opinion.
But again: keep up the good work. I'm checking MRC daily for news! |

Hey guyz, I figured out the MRC logo!
At first I thought the line under the M was a bit weird. But if you look at the top there's the MRC logo and next to it 'MSX Resource Center Foundation'. Then I thought "why isn't 'foundation' in the logo" and then I thought "but it is!"
Foundation also means basis (or 'fundament' in dutch) so the line could mean foundation!
What a brilliant logo |

Well thanks for the compliments GuyveR800!
The logo was designed with the geometry of the MSX logo in mind. Most angles reflect those of the MSX logo. For those who feel that the logo is unclear: please note that a symbolic logo doesn't need exact correspondence with the name of the organisation.
Look at the Dutch railway logo for instance: http://www.ns.nl
Please tell me wich letters you can't read there |
