Time has come to see if there is any interest from the MSX community that I organise for the fourth time the MSXart wallpaper contest. As the first two editions were relatively successful, MSXart'04 did not meet my expectations at all and was disapointing considering the time and efforts I had put into it.

MSXart'05 did not happen and will not happen - that's a fact. MSXart'06 was not even in my plans until I got a nice and encouraging e-mail from Viejo-Archivero yesterday evening to ask for it. That was nice but now that I might reconsider things, I'd like to have everybody's opinion to see how I could make this contest interesting and successful.

Please let me know if such wallpaper contest would interest you? If Yes, what would make you participate? Is the wallpapers format to general? Should I open up to artworks created on MSX (NB: MSXart has always been a contest to create MSX wallpapers for use on nowadays PC's)? If MSXart'06 ever comes to reality, would you commit to participate? Any suggestions to make it to your liking?

If you are not interested or already know you will not participate (too busy, not a graphics expert etc.) tell it as well here.

Voilà, I hope the contest can take place once more but I will only do it if I can feel some positives behind it before I start. I hope you understand me.

I have always liked your MSXArt contests! And it made me sad when I saw that only few people participated to it last year...

I really understand you, if you don´t want to arrange MSX-Art ´06, if there are no people making any pictures.

But I still like to participate, if we can make people to understand how cool it is to have such drawing contest!!!

I personally of course like the idea of drawing contest for artworks created on MSX. I use PC for work, MSX for FUN!!! (pc <> fun) And drawing is fun!! Drawing with MSX is FUN!!!

Is it so, that almost no-one nowadays like the idea of actually drawing something with their "beloved" MSXs?

Every now and then many MSX people are shouting MSX is not dead, and MSX is still alive etc etc, and many MSX people will get mad if someone dares to say "c´mon, msx is dead....."

So it seems REALLY STRANGE to me that people don´t want to participate such a wonderful contest!!!

It can´t be, that only me and a handful of others can draw with their MSX!!! (or draw msx related pictures with their pc...)

Of course there must be others too!!!


I like the idea of MSX drawing contest even there would be NO prices!


You all should remember that drawing should be FUN!!!!

Don´t be ashamed of yourselves!!! It would be great to see all kinds of drawings!!! You don´t need to be some graphical genius to participate!! If someone laughs to your drawing and says it´s crap, so what? You know that he´s a moron, and you had courage to participate. And moron who blamed your picture is still a moron. It´s that simple.

Do not just sit there behind your pc/apple keyboard, if you think MSX is not dead, then participate!!!!

This would help to organize the collections of MSX Stuff!!!

Damn I was too busy with the MSXDev'05 entries this year and had no inspiration to make a gfx, sorry!

I think MSXart is a great idea, and even if I cant join in (really busy with work), I would miss it a lot. Please, dont give up the idea!

I spend 10 hours to day drawing with computers.
