The MSX Engine IC, S3527 made by Yamaha, is used in all Philips MSX 2 machines. Even the MSX 1 VG8020 later versions used that IC.
It is also in some Sony machines.
Recently I found the datasheet on paper again and this time the english version. So now online both Japanese and English versions.

True, dead for an hour or so, last sunday. Lycos, where I store the site, is quite stable most of the time luckily. |

I have a VG8220 I would be willing to murder. Would that help? I could cut out the part of the print that has the S3527 on it, but you'd have to de-solder and then re-solder it yourself. Just by looking at the S3527 I can tell you that won't be an easy task tho... |

Unsoldering a S3527 and solder it again a SMD IC like the S3527 will require skills, experience, a professional soldering station with desoldering hardware and some luck... |
