POISONIC, look at the pictures of the box on eBay. HyperShot is compatible with MSX, Atari 2800, Sega SC3000, Sega SG1000, NEC PC-6001 and NEC PC-6001MkII.

The hydershot, has a standard Atari (9-pin D) type plug, it will control anything that use right and fire. You coyld play Space Invaders on an Atari 2600 - but you will only be able to move left and fire! not much use!

But there are not many compatible games though. For MSX, only the Track and Field series (Hyper Olympic) and some of the Hyper Sports. Anyway, it is a pleasure to play such games with the HyperShot.
A friend of mine has explained me a method to win always in these games: you need 2 MSX computers. Connect the cassette relay of an MSX (REM jack) to the right pin of the joystick port on another MSX. Code the following BASIC program in one: 10 MOTOR:GOTO 10
And then play the game in the other computer. Now prepare to run faster than ever!
Isn't it freak? |

How many times could that friend of yours play T&F before his cassette relay died? |

I tested my good old SANYO MPC-64 (MSX1) and kept that noisy program running for more than 24 hours. No problems at all, just an annoying noise, of course. I think that this is a kind of MSX urban legend

It is not. I had to repair several MSX machines with broken relais in the past after being tortured this way. Ofcourse brands act differently, I remember most were Toshibas. The relais is an electro mechanical device and will fail due to wear once, maybe fast, maybe late, but will fail. |
