I had the pleasure this afternoon of listening to the new NAIM CD555 compact disk player. It was a beautiful sounding CD player - with a price tag of a mere £14000! The recommended DIN lead to go with it was merely £500.
Ah well another thing to add to my list of desires! I dont think there is much more I want for my MSX though |

Does that thing only play cds, like in audio cds, or is there some major inflation in the uk economics, or since when does the zlotty have the £ sign?

Well, if you can pay 14000 pound for a cd-player, I'm sure you'll be ready to pay truckloads on cables, room-treatment etc. Since you'll always be dependent on the weakest link..

The weakest link in this case will probably be the ear of the person listening |

i agree with Aurora, they demonstated it with a £500 connection cable. The speaker cable was very thick!

CD players are so 20st century
14.000 pounds for a CD player is ridiculous. 500 pounds for a connection cable is even more ridiculous. |

There isnt a consumer need to replace then either. SACD, DVD-A has not caught on because people are not wanting such a product. 44.1Khz CD technology (from the 1980's) is going to be with us for a long time!
If people want to pay that much for the product then that is there choice, you can buy a Record Deck for a similar price. |
