Today I won an auction for Spectravideo SVI-738 computer which seems to be in great condition.
I haven 't even seen a live MSX since I sold (stupid me!!) my SVI-728 some 12-14 years ago.
I 've been reading these forums, and all the other msx-related stuff in the net for last few months now, and I realized that there still is a really strong scene going on around msx.
My piece of hardware should arrive in few days, so I barely can wait to switch the ol' "mäsäksä" (as i called my first machine) on.

It was too bad that there were not any games included into the auction nor any other disks/cartidges (msx-dos etc..) but I think there is software still available..? Where I can find stuff? can I somehow convert/stream/use the game rom files available in the net also if I can't find (in reasonable way) original games?? I think there were articles on those subjects also available.

Anyway, I' m mainly interested on modding my 738, as there seems to be really cool mods for it.
Been thinkin of converting it to (at least) MSX-2. (The msx-2+ coversion seems to be more tricky)
And also upgrade the 32kb(? ..or were they 16kb??) EPROM chips to a 256 kb or 512 kb versions.
I will change the 16kb vram chips to 64kb versions. (is there even bigger, like 512 kb versions available??)
Is there any limit for the amount of the size of the chips??
Some other mods I've been thinkin are; reset switch, (rgb) scart- cabel, double sided floppy drive)
I have even been thinking of modding the case. New paint, or somethin like that.

But let' s first see are my "moddingskills" high enough for all of it.

If I manage to do the mods I'll surely post pictures and documentation about the work.

Any suggestions for cool/good/important mods??
