I thought I'd start a new thread. The most disappointing MSX game, after all the hype for me was Nemesis 2.

Nemesis 2 had loads of rave reviews, people said the graphics where wonderful, the sound would be great.

I paid £22.99 in 1987 for Nemesis 2, got it home, plugged in and switched on! The sound was mindblowing, the intro screens where great. Then came the game demos, and all i could see was the same awful scrolling from Nemesis 1.

I was gutted!!! Nemesis 2 is still one of fav games though!

What do you expect for an MSX1 game that is side scrolling?

A novice user might *expect* a lot since there are many MSX1 games with smooth scroll in both directions. I cite Thezeus and Rally-X. Circus Charlie has smooth horizontal scroll.

As a programmer, I know these techniques couldn't be used in Nemesis. As an 80s child, however, I'm sure some of us were disappointed.

Heck, I even didn't understand why ther were those stranges blocky non-antialiased slopes in Space Manbow's gfx, until -yeeeears later- I realised it was pattern-mode and the gfx are outstanding^2.

I must say that "Flight Path 737" was a bit of a disapointment. I got it in '85 and was hoping for some flight simulator action but its really no action at all.

Ok, don't laugh ! Read the next story:

Together with our father we went out to a shop (V&D) to buy the newly released Penguin Adventure. As we had MSX1, this megamapper thingie didn't run nicely from cassette. But ofcource, it was sold out.

But the salesguy got us so far to buy: Green Beret.

Aargh, that was not the idea. But our father thought it would be nice to buy a game for us, thus we got that one. At home I told him, after playing, that it wasn't really a great game. So he said : let's trade it for Penguin Adventure at the store (when available) , but ofcourse that was not allowed, as they especially sealed the gamebox for prevention of copying.

Haha, what a laughter :-)

The hunt for red october.... one of ********W*O*R*S*T******** or just WORST msx games ever made.... I wanted to get submarine simulation to my msx in the 88 or 89 (don´t remember when it was published) and i saw it was reviewed as great game in some english game magazine (on atari st) so I asked my dad to buy it, instead of Ocean Conqueror pocket money version, and then... first you load it from cassette. .... then you wonder what you can do in it... everything is slowish... then you want to check depth to prevent collision to the bottom of the sea and game slows down unbelievably much.... then after some minutes (after game is loaded) game just ends telling russian submarine has sunk on atlantic ocean... and then cassette motor turns ON... TO LOAD THAT GAME AGAIN FROM THE BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unless you saved your position to cassette to load it again....

IMAGINE!!! HOW IT CAN BE POSSIBLE THAT WHEN GAME IS OVER, YOU HAVE TO LOAD GAME ALL AGAIN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? HOW THE HELL THAT GAME CAN EAT ALL THE MEMORY WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING SO YOU MUST LOAD IT AGAIN?!?!?!? PROGRAMMERS MUST HAVE BEEN TOTALLY IDIOTS!!! OR JUST BASTARDS!!!!!!

Totally the WORST msx game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feedback was a crap.

I remember that I read a review from MSX-CLUB and it said it's a wondeful papanese game. I bought it and once I turn on my MSX and the game loaded I realized that those guys in MSX-CLUB were lying!!!

o.O Feedback is an amazing game. Loved it. Ok, the 'space-levels' suck arse, but mainly due to the insane 'music', the rest is very nice...
