IIRC Green Beret was a hit in the arcades. The Konami office in the UK decided to port it to MSX. Of course Konami Japan didn't close the office in the UK as the distribution was still done through Konami Europe. I can imagine Konami Europe not doing any more Konami Europe releases after that fiasco.

thought Konami continued with european programmers on other popular computers, check out commodore "Jailbreak", how "good" it is.
Thought european guys did good c64 Konami games like Comic Bakery, thought it is way too easy, but lot better for little children than much harder MSX version.
By the way... MAD MIX is a good game! Thought ghosts are sometimes too hard to see because of monochrome graphics, they were hard to see even in "those days" when I was used to spectrum graphics on my MSX. Again I say, someone please do good looking MADMIX remake or clone! |

As a child, I saved up all my (and my brothers ) money to buy a new MSX game...
Rambo III (Pack-In-Video, MSX1 version).
I can't tell you how disappointed I was, what a waste of money. |

...tsk, tsk... Temptations, Survivor, Goody/ Goody(MSX2), The Last Mission/ The Last Mission (MSX2), Livingstone Supongo, Navy Moves, A.M.C., Narco Police, Abu Simbel Profanation...
MOST spanish software is NOT crap. As jltursan said, SOME spanish software could be crap. And note that most of games you are probably pointing are spectrum ports, not native MSX games... There are some spanish gems out there for you to discover, just give them a try!. |

Some really crappy games: Gemini Wing, Cosmic Sheriff, Bounce, Football Manager, Budokan...

Football Manager?!, I love this game!. I've been hours stuck to my MSX playing this one!, It's great, I like even the "cartoonish" football animations. |

Many games are perhaps good, but the MSX got lots of poorly done Spectrum ports

I was very disappointed after buying Super Tritorn, as I could find no way to save the game... We went back to the shop and traded it for Arkanoid 2 . |

Rambo III wasn't by Pack-In-Video. It was a tape game released by the UK software house Ocean. However, there were two Rambo cartridges from Pack-In-Video: Rambo (MSX1) and Super Rambo Special (MSX2). So which game disappointed you that much? |

... and La Abadia del Crimen is probably one of the best MSX (and other 8 bits) games ever.
Disappointing game...
For me Dambusters was implayable. |

Well, mr. precise, it must have been Rambo then.
I remember the game screen and the box having a Russian attack chopper.
As far as I remember only the Rambo 3 movie had such a chopper.

What is so good about A.M.C. or Navy Moves??? I really find those games uninteresting... speccy ports for sure...! Or at least, they look like it. Slow, mostly monocolour, bad sound and just dull... |

A.M.C. y Navy Moves.- Yes, they are speccy ports, but these games really rock (at least for me). A.M.C. has a nice PSG tune and its a frenzy side scroller with lots of action!. And Navy Moves has a GREAT 2nd stage, with some role playing elements, where you must gather info, cards, etc... inside a submarine base (similar to Freddy Hardest 1 (2nd stage)). Both games are damn cool... just 2 colors per character, but, hey, a game is FUN |

Have just played gemini wing.. erm... wha? joystick: "keyboard / sinclair / kempston" heh
quality porting skillz there
that travesty doesn't deserve to exist but then I'm biased as the arcade original is one of my most favourite games ever.
Oh, and to cast *stuff* among the pigeons, I was disapointed with nemesis when I got it, it took only 1 hour to complete.
