I'm having a hard time finding the game Aliens by Electric Dreams (not the Square version).
It was released on tape and it came with a map that you could fill in during your progress. Who has it and, more important, who's willing to part with this great game?

Loved that game too, but never knew how to go very far, I allways ended up being killed by an alien...

I used to wait until last moment to hit aliens in their head, i still remember my cousin watching me playing and yelling: Shoot, Shoot now
and me still taking a little more time, until alien was filling all the screen
I think only enjoyed so much with Alien Trilogy for PSX
Alien for MSX was a hard game, if you killed an alien in front of a door its acid-blood blocked your path through that door so u have to look for an alternative way.

And you could shoot the switches next to the doors in order to block entrance to the aliens, it worked but it usually didn’t last! And when one of your team members was captured and cocooned you could try to locate and save him/her by shooting the pods. I would always ‘gasp’ when I finally reached a weapons chamber, there you could take a break and fill out your ammo! This game had a great atmosphere with a lot of ‘keep on your toes’ and ‘think before you act’ tension. The increasing ticking of that bloody proximity meter really made me nervous. On the resume website (look in the section softography) of an involved programmer by the name of Jon Dean (he worked on several other MSX games as well) you can find a little background information and a review as published in CVG magazine.

This game deserves a good MSX2 remake.... and a brand new Moonsound soundtrack with cool sounds to make the atmosphere much more scary.

Go and get a PS*! Weren't we talking about MSX games?
Besides my comments, there is already an Alien game in 3D for MSX... The one from Ultimate Play the Game, Alien 8. |
