Probably a good indicator of the health/deadness of MSX could be the
update rate of MRC news...
If you consider in the years the rate of update of the MRC home page(excluding self news and self generated vapourware, like polls, I mean) you could have a different glance on the msx scenario.

no, you are wrong, MSX2 was born dead. In Finland there were no MSX2s. (well, just few)

If you don´t believe me, check this evidence:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=msx2&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all

No-one uses MSX2.

Thats true in Sweden too. I don't know anyone that got an MSX2. Most Swedish MSX1 users got either an Atari ST or Amiga or in rare cases a PC. Myself got about 5 Atari ST, all of them eqully crappy

Oh yeah, MSX is dying, of course!

...the same way it died in 1990, in 1994, in 1998, in 2002... (change to your favourite "MSX death years" if desired)

Come on guys, don't you have anything REALLY interisting to post? Then go and switch on your MSX.

Is it the winter olymics or the soccer world cup that is killing the MSX?

Isn't loving something dead necrophilia? XD

And, if it came back from death, isn't it a zombie? XD

And, how should we call it when it has died and come back to life several times? "Zombie" wouldn't have the same meaning. XD

As you can see nonsense questions can be easily made.

However enjoy your MSX, whether it is dead or alive. ;D

Greetings / Kanda.

when it comes back from the dead more than once, it's known as a sequel.

MSX was dead and buried in the UK by 1990, the manufacturers pulled out in 1985, the magazines stopped in 1986. The clubs stopped in the 1990's. I am the UK's only TurboR GT owner

Looking at the blueMSX download statistics, it seems like there is still a quite big interest in MSX though. The latest version has been downloaded about 40.000 times from our site and its mirrorred on many emu sites or distributed in magazines. I don't have any detailed statistics but I would guess that most people only download it once.
I guess not all of the users that download the emulator are core MSX fans but still quite big numbers which at least show that there is a big interest.
