MSXdev'06 6th entry: Malaika - Prehistoric Quest by Karoshi Corporation
Less than one month after his launching, the 2006 edition of the MSXdev contest seems to become really a great edition, as 6 entries have already been announced and we guess that other projects are also planned, but for the moment kept in private area.
The 6th entry is made by the founders of this great challenge, Karoshi Corporation (Jon Cortazar and Eduardo Robsy), who have released in the previous editions a total of 8 games (Duck Hunt, Factory Infection, Griel's Quest for the Sangraal, Guru Logic MSX1, Picture Puzzle, Saimazoom, Snail Maze, Soukoban Pocket Edition).
With an atttractive intro screen, Malaika - Prehistoric Quest will be another platform game ! And we guess that Karoshi Corp. has other surprises in preparation

Excellent shot! I'm amazed about the graphics. I thought the LUX shot was hard to beat but this one is at least as good, if not better I don't want to ruin your day, but shouldn't the pixel on location 232,137 (from top left) be dark green instead of light green? |

dvik: I'm sure there are some pixels here and there to correct. Anyway, I'm glad you have been examining the screenshot so deeply . As you probably noticed, there are lots of sprites strategically placed: Malaika has lots of sprites, the little UFO, the flowers, the big rounded black corners from the front green grass, the star in the logo...
Ah, and thanx everyone for the feedback, I hope you like this game, we have big expectations with this one! |

Yeah the graphics is amazing so I actually had to look at the details and I'm really impressed With a shot this good you're definately raising the expectations. I'm really looking forward to see the final game and I'm sure it will deliver! |

Just saw some screenshots (gameplay) and I get the impression that Jon and Eduardo gonna
attempt to create a smooth scrolling platformgame.

The screenshots remind me of a platform game from the NES: Banana Prince.
It's a good reference for inspiration I think.

Huey: I hadn't seen that "Banana Prince" game before, but it seems funny!. Be sure I will test it to see if it can give me some more ideas for Malaika. But I already had a game in mind that really inspired Malaika's gameplay: Super Mario Bros.
