Does Dos2 also take 96 kb ram on a 256 kb turbor? On msx2 Dos2 runs from rom and
takes only 32 kb ram, so can this also be achieved on a turbor?

If you don't need R800 DRAM mode, you can use INCRAM.COM that should be available in downloads section.

Well... Amount of free RAM depends of the COMMAND2.COM version and settings you use... If you need maximum amount of mapper ram, use version 2.3x, if TPA memory is more important, use version 2.4x
INCRAM will increase the amount of mapper RAM by 64KB I've also written DECRAM, that will restore the system back to stable also in R800 DRAM mode if RAM is not used anymore... I can try to locate it, if you think you need it...

I would like to see the sources too (of both inc- and decram) if that is possible...
So the maximum amount would be about 208 kb + roughly 4 kb from page 3.

I'll see if I can find them... There is no magic inside INCRAM. It just switches CPU mode and calls standard memory free function for last four pages. DECRAM is a bit more complex as it needs to search the right memory pages. This is done by reserving all memory that is free and freeing rest but the last pages. It will give error if last pages are not free. Then it just copies content of these pages back from ROM.

Hmmm... In the downloads database the description says it frees 32KB and the japanese document says ASCAT created it.

I didn't know this: ROMTURBO does the same as INCRAM and RAMTURBO does the same as DECRAM (according to NYYRIKKI's description)... and both are available here. |
