alpha is transparency... so that means that there's a certain degree of transparency, allowing for the image to overlay another picture and blend in easily.

couldn't have said it more poetically then you just did D-Tail
an rgb picture consists of 3 channels, red green and blue,
and an alpha is a channel that can be added for transparancy...
a GIF or Targa (or PSD) support alpha channels.
You can also have alpha channels in video, though afaik only quicktime supports it.
Not avi's....
all in all, it's damn convenient, since it is a hell of a lot better then say chroma or luma keying.
some parts in an image can be transparent with variating degrees

AFAIK, GIF doesn't support alpha channels, only 1-bit transparency. PNG does support all of it (256 levels of transparency).

ah yeah you're right, sorry. indeed you can have transparent gifs, but that's transpsarancy in one degree, not various.
and png indeed supports that too

M$X supports this too, by doing the copy-tpset feature |

Poke,
i did notice that the text had a shadow.
It was a bit strange for me to see, that a part of a picture uses shading and the other part doesnt.
Also because I didnt see layers.
How did you do that ?

in photoshop, you can use layers with effects, like dropshadow, outer glow etc.
if you need something changed just give me a yell and I'll change it |
