Hi all, I'm new here, I've downloaded BlueMSX and have been playing with it since yesterday.
Basically, if I select the MSX2 or MSX2+ (i'm guessing MSX2 C-Bios should work too). and select screen 0 according to MSX2 reference that should give me an 80 column text screen. I don't use any hardware (IDE or anything) I've tried the SVI 328 80 column emulation as well and nothing seems to give me 80 columns.
I'm using BlueMSX 2.5. Is there a setting somewhere, or a command I need to know about to give me those 80 columns?
Thank you all, great forum and great website. Awesome work.

Ahhh...that's the part I was missing. the reference didn't mention that, it just said that screen 0 was 80 columns.
Speaking of, this is for the MSX2 emulation. would you happen to know of any reference on the other supported systems? where's a good place to get those?
Thank you for that very quick (and accurate) reply, greatly appreciated. :-)

Even better, start your (emulated) MSX2 wiat for the BASIC to complete booting and type
WIDTH 80
SET SCREEN
and reboot/reset the (emulated) MSX2 :-)

SVI-328 is not a MSX machine, you need to boot this machine with a CP/M-80 disk or with a disk that contains the SV extended BASIC to access to the 80 columns. Automatically, the machine will switch from the normal graphic card (TMS9929A) to the 80 columns graphic card (CRTC6845) and you can check that in the Options/Video Source out menu. |
