Remember the megapolls? No? Well... then it's high time for a little explanation. We're on a quest to find out which event the visitors of MRC think is the most essential MSX event that took place between 1985 and 2005. With no less than 78 nominees, we have quite a bit of work to do so... lets get started!
Right here you can find a list of all nominees (in voting order!) with the reasons why they were nominated. Please read it first, carefully, and don't hesitate too look back at this list later on. Got it? Great!
Below is a list of 39 pairs. Your job is to divide three points between each pair. So with the pair
option A | option B
the following scores are valid:
3 - 0 ;option A | option B
2 - 1 ;option A | option B
1 - 2 ;option A | option B
0 - 3 ;option A | option B
It is NOT permitted to give halve points, the total points divided each pair HAS to be 3 points. You will have to make this decision each pair, until you completed the entire list. Mixing pairs with others is not allowed. Only completely valid submissions will be counted.
So all you have to do to vote is join the MRC, log in and fill in the votesheet below. This first round closes at September 22nd, 23:59 CET. Happy voting!

0-3 The release of Metal Gear 1 | Zandvoort fair
3-0 The release of Nemesis 1 | blueMSX

note: what's up with these:
MSX Computer Magazine becoming MSX/MS-DOS Computer Magazine at issue #22
MCM/MCCM
MCM and MCM merging into MCCM
The end of MCCM
Why not "MSX magazines in general" or something (same goes for all the "konami" events, just one for konami should be fine)
some unfair ones:
Peter van Overbeek/PTC Print | Konami
The release of Metal Gear 1 | Zandvoort fair
MSX turboR | openMSX
other note:
I choose only the "real" events in msx scene (read msx vs emulating/pc) where posible.
personal favors:
MSX tR, Konami, Magazines, Fairs

Ro - about the various MCM/MCCM nominees - they are entirely different events. Have you read the list of 'whys' as indicated in the firstpost?
About the unfair ones: which is why there will be a second round of voting in which all nominees will compete in a different order before we move on to dropping names... New voting system on this one.

Some hard votes... some really unfair since you cant compare the importance of turbo-R's (the last breath of MSX) with openMSX. The same with Karoshi vs MSX2 - Karoshi IS an important "event", but cant be compared to the launch of MSX2...
Some I just had to guess, since lots of stuff I never heard of
Also didnt give any points to Laserdiscs... if they were so important, they shouldnt be so rare nowadays
I'm stunned noone nominated MSX Magazines.... (even in Brazil we had some back in those days...) |
