For those wondering, the early subscribers to the D4E mailinglist had the chance to order a (1) One Chip MSX computer during a short 'priority sale'-period before the actual sale started. This priority sale period has now ended, general sales is to start on October 12th.

I just received email from basix regarding the current status of OCM in europe.
The mail contained tihs part:
"As you may have noticed, Bazix has not started taking orders yet. It has turned out that a few parts on the One Chip MSX board are not compliant with European production directives, which means that the One Chip MSX cannot be distributed to Europe or the USA in its current form."
I 'd like to know which are those parts... Not that I could do something about the problem, but I 'm just curious.
Anybody got more spesific information??

Sounds like the usual lead pollution which has plagued other mfrs as well.
Personally I think it's rather weird that E4D didn't check this before. Those rules are pretty well known and they could have taken this into account. But I guess they didn't think beyond japanese borders..
this probably means more expensive oneChip MSX for europe and US  (since it's going to be a seperate batch...) |
