Is there anyplace where I could see a complete list of games released for the MSX and MSX2 systems?
Also, any place where I could see what MSX & MSX2 games were released in Europe too?

Hehe, I really doubt there's such a list. There probably never will be either, there's just too many (unknown/littleknown) games out there. The site Generation MSX has a very nice database with a lot of games though. Not nearly all of them, but certainly a lot of them. |

I usually manage to find more games on Tagoo. But I can't do anything with the information because it's in Japanese.
Tagoo on Aleste
If you turn Javascript on, and then go to Top 10, click on a user, you will see more games.
I don't really know how to get all games listed on Tagoo, but I do know that is has quite a few games in its listing that Generation MSX does not have. (which I have managed to find with google) |

It's a pain finding what titles came out for Europe and which didn't.
Generation MSX doesn't say if the title is a Japanese only release, sadly.

They're often physically the same cartridge...most Konami's work that way at least; they just switch to engrish language and PAL speed when put in a European MSX model (of course they have different game boxes and manuals, but the carts are the same in most cases).

I think the Generation MSX database is fairly complete. At least the most complete list you'll ever find.
If you know some stuff is missing, please let the admins (including me) know. You can also post on the forum there, if somethign is missing.

Just curiosity, I've found very complete the ROM db file compiled by Vampier, has Generation MSX all the games included in the list?

this site lists 3004 MSX games. Generation MSX recently reported to list more than 3000 MSX games. I guess the lists will overlap quite a bit, but I'd say that a combination of Generation MSX, Outerheaven, Tagoo and Vampier's list will give you an as complete as possible overview of MSX games. At least we now know there are more than 3000 ^_^. |

Thanks for the lists everyone.
I guess there aren't any lists that mention which games were released in Europe then.

Well, all games produced by European countries are released in Europe. The problem is to find out which Japanese games are released in Europe. Most Konamis are; most HAL games are. But in Europe there was also a lot of unofficial import from Japan. Any Japanese game can have been imported... As already said: there are only a handful of Japanese games that had separate European versions. If different at all, mostly only the boxes are.
So, why do you want to know?

Because if it's an Euro release it's probably in English.
No point in playing the Japanese version if there's one in English
