The Japanese 1chipMSX isn't RoHS compliant. And those rules are pretty new, 1st of July 2006 I believe. So I guess considering what materials to use simply wasn't an issue. The first batch was produced in China. It kinda does surprise me those Chinese are still manufacturing with non RoHS materials. You'd assume they would anticipate for some time already.

Anyway, I think it is merely the soldering which isn't RoHS compliant. I checked the FPGA used. No problems with that one. It is RoHS compliant

The RoHS story wal already formulated in 2002 and the date of July 2006 was set in 2003, so it was known already for quite some time. If they didn't take that into account with their original BOM (Bill of Materials) they were quite ignorant

Ehm, first of all: The USA doesn't follow RoHS. It's EU only
Second of all: If those Chinese don't follow it, they can't sell in the EU which means they would be losing customers, so.. they need us as bad as we need them

And for your information: most of the parts from Asia didn't have any problems. The USA was a bigger problem

I hope that the non-Japanese 1chip is available soon, otherwise the prize of the MEGA Challenge is going to be a non-RoHS 1chip with the user's manual in Japanese

Here you can see OCM VHDL code ported and running on Altera DE1 DevBoard. caro from russian forum is the person who did it. Now he wants to implement and test SD-card access.

The question is: how disk image file on SD-card can be used with OCM ?

Impressive!, it's a Cyclone II FPGA based board!. How about the compatibility reached?
