I guess we can make a dozen more cracked versions! (But who cares?) |

Ah, I'm glad you mean that. Any idea about the differences?

Manuel: do you mean the differences between the original Konami cartridges and the cracked disk versions? Maybe we can give you a tiny hint: cartridges are a bit more thick than disks are
Now seriously: does anyone know the differences between the original ROMs? Is the ROM multiversion (different titles on Japanese/European machines) or are there separate Japan and Europe releases? I would like to know that too. |

hmmm actually the crashing of my old disk version bothers me
the thing its actually about is that:
disk version (japanese version of vampire killer) freezes and resets when i walk off the screen.
on both my msx2 nms8245 64k rom 256k ram computers
but the weird fact is that my japanese cartridge version of vampire killer that i recently bought gives the same problem.
freezes randomly but often when i walk of the screen unto the next screen in exactly the same way as the disk version does.

Let me point out that NMS8245 has the following:
- 128 KB RAM
- 128 KB VRAM
- 32 KB BIOS
- 16 KB EXT BIOS
- 16 KB DISK BIOS
Note that 128 KB RAM + 128 KB VRAM is *NOT* 256 KB RAM.

i only mean the original konami cartridge there is one version that crashes on a philips MSX2.
And there are as i said before (at least) 5 different original versions released by konami.
I got this information from Konami Guru bifi!
dunno about cracked versions.

THen it seems that that particular crack was quite good, and from the same ROM version as your cartridge |

Hmm, about the diskversions: I have had a diskversion that I played on a 128KB 8250, complete with music, no gamemaster, from start till end several times. Later I got a version with a trainer, allowing me to give myself 255 energy (which made the energy bar 'walk' out of the screen ). That also worked completely fine. I ran both version on my 8245 with 256KB, also without problems.
However I felt guilty so afterwards I bought the cardridge a few years ago |

So, if there really were 5 versions of cartridges, what are the differences between them ?
Can it be that the crashing problem on specific MSX models was solved in later versions ?

From the legal point of view, as long you own the cartridge, you can use any disk version you want.
I think there should exist some that will work for you.
Am I right ?

yup i know if i own the cartridge version i can use any disk version i want ^_^
but for some reason i want to own a vampire killer cartridge that doesnt crash on my msx.
and since it seems that unfortunately the first version i bought crashes on my system and other versions dont i decided to order the european release of the game. ^_^
