Related with this thread and also from another forums of retrocollecting I read, I think it is a very interesting question if the retrocomputer items selled in ebay or physical stores as the MSX cartridges or disks have the adequate prize, or the prices are very high, or they are bargains...

According to an opinion given on that postforums, if just we take care of the original prize of the item when it was put originally on the market, and taking in mind the raise of the money every year, for example a single Konami Megarom that originally costs 40-45 € (1988) it's real prize today will be around 110-120 €

Apart from not too many people likes vintage videogames and prefer modern ones, the old ones are being sold very *cheap* on ebay (just MG or MG2 trespass the €100 barrier), and buy a Penguin Adventure or Nemesis 2 for 30€ is really cheap following this opinion.

Do you think MSX games are being selled in general cheap on ebay?

I think teddybears and porcelain dolls are also being resold for absurd sums, but somehow they just gain in value, no matter what. Some MSX games seem to behave like art.

compared to most other old games/systems MSX is relatively expensive.

Consider that most auctions start at a pretty low price, the outcome is up to the bidders. Not too cheap, not too expensive: the customer is always right

If you simply disregard the fact that's it's pretty simple to screw up an E-Bay auction. It was shown on TV here in Germany a week or two ago...
The idea was to use two accounts: set the cheap price with one account, overbid with a ridiculously high amount using the other and retract that bid on the very last second.

I think that there are TOO MUCH MSX items on the market for them to have so much value. In Brazil you pay more for a Turbo-R than a new P4/3GHz with LCD!!! Believe it or not, it runs here around Us$ 900. Crazy.

supply and demand...
I think there's little demand in the MSX community, since it's small and the real collectors amongst us already have all items they want/need, hench the low prices of the items that are plenty. Ofcourse except for a few, which are hard(er) to get and go for absurd prices.

Agree... final prices in ebay bids are fixed by the demand, no matter a single Konami cartridge has a "real value" of 100 €, if it is very difficult to find the price will be raised up to nonsense as Alexandre_Taito said. Otherwise, if an item is relatively easy to find on ebay or physical shops as Cash and Convert, final prices will be lower for it.

As I said, my opinion is that in general MSX and other system articles are being sold still *very cheap* (including top prices as a Turbo-R for 900 US$, in my opinion). I affirm that because I am guessing prices will be higher and higher, year after year (cause manufacturing is over several years ago, it means less items "free", less items working, more collectors per item...), and I believe in some years just we are going to find very few items working for sale. We always could buy the latest superPC for 1000 or 1500 €, buy maybe we can't find a working MSX Turbo R anymore

PS.: I *DON'T* work in Ebay nor I'm selling MSX stuff on it!
