If I see it right, the grip is on the bottom, and the devices are mostly on the top of the pcb, a good chance it wil fit.

yobi: did you already do some performance tests, regarding practical usage behind a game? Not just a dull boardgame, but an action game or at least a game in which a lot of screenstuff happens each one or two ints, this in combination with streaming from a mass-storage-medium..

@wolf I don't need a MP3 cart to tell that streming from mass-storage device during gameplay is not an easy task. DOS functions are way too slow and custom routines usually end up with limited support for different devices.

Great news!
@Wolf: I still hope, that I am right with about 25% CPU usage when playing 128kbit MP3s from hard disc. That should be it for SymbOS, maybe it's similiar in MSX-DOS. But we will see it very soon, I hope!

Prodatron: this 25%, is that a constant number per int, or a peak every now and then -say each 60 ints-? That's the point here. You don't want an action game with a performance hickup each second. For a GUI like SymbOS all that might be less of an issue btw.. not sure tho..  |

That should be 50:50...
Uploading data to the MP3 card will be done every int, so the CPU usage here will be distributed as smooth as possible.
But loading new data from harddisc... I am not sure yet, how smooth this can be made. It will be smooth, if you load small data pieces from hard disc a lot times, but the overhead will be bad for the performance, so loading bigger pieces is faster but generates hickups. As soon as I can test it, I will play around with the different factors.

wolf: CPU usage percentages are always averages, as a single core CPU can only do one thing at a time.
