From my experience with MicroWAVer, the most stable WAV/MP3 replayer is a DVD player with all audio enhancing functionality switched off. But for development purposes loading from PC's soundcard should be a more convenient way.

A PDA could be also very useful |

Sounds interesting. I haven't got a reply from Carchano yet. I'll see what he says about the disk drive interface and if it is available. 1kb/s sounds pretty fast and if it can be done using a PC sound card it sounds pretty easy to use too. I suppose there are good tools to generate those wav files.

@fdvik: In my test i've used a pocket PC as a cassette recorder but the max speed i can reach is 2400 bauds. at 4800 does not work. |

I've uploaded NEMESIS to a SCC+ cart in 60 seconds using the cassette interface. That's my best record so far |

PingPong:
standard MSX routines work stable up to ~3200 bauds on almost any MSX. For faster speeds you need a special turbo-loader and data compression.
On Pocket PC it's also a matter of WAV/MP3 player you are using. Some of them can distort a sound.
pitpan:
knowing that Nemesis can be compressed to ~67K, it's really a good game for speed demonstration :-) Usually Konami 128K megaroms are zipped to 90-100K.

cax: yes, you're right. Other games perform worse. But anyway, every single 1 MB game is under the 2 min barrier. Compare that to the "old" tape times, with tapes up to 15 minutes!

Thanks legacy. I'll check it out.
@pitpan, Does Microwaver work with megaroms too, like 256kb ASCII roms?

Microwaver was coded by WYZ and cax, you should better ask them.
WAVeR does not in the latest public release, but there are some betas that do upload megaROMs using MegaRAM or SCC+ cartridges.

MicroWAVer can make a WAV from a sequence of BIN files, that's how megaroms are loaded.
More then 100 known megaroms have such a multi-bin versions, AFAIK. |
