TFH: fine, then you show a complete list/summary on which I shall comment. Heck, spit out a whole list of all you think is wrong about mrc, bazix, whoever, then we can discuss that. (being serious here)

Until that moment let's stick to my list:

"msxarchive went through its monthly traffic limit in a day due some article in a paper magazine"

Is this a fact or not? yes or no?

"people don't read and assume + yell the worst before investigating the facts. The paper magazine hosted mbox for a while, which was the reason they had to take it offline (requested by Bazix)."

Is this a fact or not? yes or no?

"significance differences between games and non-businessthreats such as system roms in hobby-emulators"

Is this a fact or not? yes or no?

@idrouge: Problem was that MBOX was 'advertised' in a dutch magazine giving it masive exposure. Funet has been around for ages but when a comercial company starts providing links to ROMs its easy (and the right thing) to ask them to remove the link.

It's nothing I would have done, due to legal issues and other matters. Did they sleep their way through journalist school?

As for emulators; They are also used to create new stuff. Like me (and others) use emulators as tools for crossdevelopment for new games for example. And there are also some great free games (msxdev for example) and demos available.

I think you are doing WOOMB a disservice here by developing new games for free. You could at least have the decency to give them the exclusive rights to sell them.

Don't you want things for free?
Developing for MSX is fun.
People playing your games is even better.
Selling the game brings responsibilities -> no fun (trust me).

There are easier/faster ways to make money these days.

Ohh. and b.t.w. I think that WOOMB targets more on the nostalgic gamers who want to play the games from way back. I think those gamers don't care for new games. They just don;t know what to expect. For the older games they know what they get: "nostalgic feeling'.

Anyway I personaly think WOOMB is ok.

this nostalgic gamer also likes new games.....

For me, Woomb is an opportunity to get my hands on a bunch of games (and manuals) in English that I couldn't otherwise. It's also easily accessible because I fire up my PC a whole lot more often than my MSX.
Just wished they'd release a little more often (though I quite understand why this would be hard to accomplish), and less "indie material".
