Hi guys.
So, i have a vg 8020 and some old cassetes. After all this time they are wearing out and frankly, their condition is bad (the tapes have a lot of bumps and scratches)
So, i was wondering if there is any utility to copy tape to tape from the msx. Something like on the zx spectrum that would copy a tape to another (storing untill the loading screen, then saving and discarding, then storing the rest...), thus giving a new fresh powerfull audio signal.
My double deck seems to generate some kind of noise that prevents copied tapes not to load (even with spectrum software) although i can't spot the difference. The fact is that the copied tapes wont load (new tapes used - different brands and types). I tried cas 2 wav but with no sucess too even fiddling with output levels.
Does such utility exist?
Cheers.

Thanks. I have to say that i don't have any loading devices besides the cassete player. So only tapes work for me.
I'll try to find it
Saludos. |

You can load your MSX using your PC's soundcard and some conversion software as well.

Got it!
Does it work on a msx1? I converted it to rom and again converted it to wav (rom2wav), but the msx keeps on resetting.
Isn't there a .cas version? |

Well, in this case, portuguese.
The thing is that suppliers would just throw to the stores the basic package, and it was very hard to find anything more than basic accessories (tape decks, joystick, etc). This happened a bit with all the computers around here (amiga, msx, spectrum, atari, etc)
If someone wanted something else, the supplier wouldnt have (i.e. a disk drive) and due to low demand (much to salaries) it wouldnt justify the import of a large quantity just to fullfill the needs of one or two clients. So, tapes were very common around here as they were a cheap storage solution. |

I have the same experience with audio CD and portable CD players.
But when I
- convert WAV to MP3 at 320 kbps without any filters
- put them on CD
- configure my DVD-player to not use any sound processing
- connect it to MSX and start playing
the loading works perfectly all the time, without even single miss ! |
