to pass through that annoying program to play with my casette games but i can't. When I star it loads this paintbrush clone and I dont know how go the the basic...

As far as I remember, it should actually work. You do need to keep ESC pressed from the start of the bootup sequence until you see the normal Basic startup screen, as far as I know.

Just like MSXBOX program inside Music Module.
I know of somebody who reprogramed it to make it boot the other way arround: if you press ESC then you will get the program. If not, you have BASIC...

It's not holding the esc key when it boots, neither holding ANY key when it boots. It has no externat swithc anywhere...it's vey fustrating!!! I have 80 casette games I've recovered, games that I played when was a child like Game Over, Hundra, Head over Hells, La Abadia del Crimen... and I cannot play them now because I cannot write the load:cas blabla....

a solution : open the MSX and remove the rom with paint program

yeah true, I got one with the rom butchered out too. Though I'm 100% sure it was about holding a key,
it may be the arrow one next to the grph key, if it ain't the esc one.
Or write a. koene a letter, which he always enjoys...

This was my first msx2 too, and I also remember it was holding a key (100% sure too). I think it was the ESC key too.

The Music Module can be start with "call musicbox" iirc "call designer" will start that paintingprog, but I'm not sure.

It's definately the ESC key you have to press. (Try it e.g. in openMSX.)
Mundocombo: maybe your ESC key is malfunctioning? Try to press it REALLY hard...

I'm with Manuel, this could be the symptom of a faulty keyboard. Can you use the paint program itself to do some keyboard tests?, maybe the ESC key has a role in this tool.
