The speed it can take, the kind of phones it works better...
I would like a review of an s60 3rd version symbian user who has got the emulator installed.
It would be very helpfull a deep review for those who want to rule MSX in an specific phone.

Both Symbian MSX emulators are free. Why don't you install them on your phone and see for yourself? |

Runs rather normally, as long as you can live with somewhat awkward controls. As for seeing it, find a friend with an S60e3 phone and ask him to run it for you. |

Indeed, the phone keypad is usually not very well suited for game play, especially in fast paced action games the frustration factor quickly builds up I prefer phones that have a QWERTY keyboard because it allows more flexibility in the controls and you can even use BASIC to some extent... As far as I know both emulators support configurable keypad mappings so most games are somewhat playable. In fMSX/S60 there's an option to define two alternate keypad layouts that can be 'hotswapped' during the emulation -- this is useful when a game has more controls that can practically be configured to a small keypad or if the game has two different playing modes, for example, and you wish to use different keypad layouts for each mode.
I suppose such a review would not only need to take into consideration the different features supported by the emulators but also how they run on various phone models. Anyone willing to spend a day or two at a Nokia flagship store? |

fMSX-Symbian has got a virtual keyboard for cases where you absolutely need to type text and separate mappings for joystick and keyboard buttons.

I doubt it will be possible to talk folks at the Moscow store into it =) You may have better luck back in Finland. |
